If you love Hindi Music, you shouldn't miss these five songs from 2018! Here's Why?

By no means, I brand myself as someone with a great taste in music! But growing up on Hindi songs is inevitable if you live in India.

And the Bollywood freak that I am, it is impossible to separate the songs from the films.
2018 was a great year not just for Hindi films but also with the kind of songs they had.

Therefore, without giving much about my incompetency to review music, I have a list of five of my favourite Hindi Film Songs from 2018.

1. Daryaa- Manmarziyaan

I would eternally be grateful to Amit Trivedi for giving Bollywood what most people have labelled as the "album of the year". My list of songs could potentially be listing the entire soundtrack of this genius of a film. Keeping my personal bias aside, I would just stick to my most favourite song.
I have lost count of the number of times I've played this on loop and still continue to.

THIS IS NOT JUST A SONG, IT IS AN EMOTION IN ITSELF.

2. Naina da Kya Kasoor- Andhadhun

Not only Sriram Raghvan enthralled us with what is being touted as the best Hindi film of the year, but Amit Trivedi was also once again at his genius best with a masterful soundtrack in a film about a blind pianist. The song has a new age charm with an old school vibe and if you've seen the movie, you'd agree that the song's placement in the narrative is so crucial for the plot progression.

3. O Meri Laila- Laila Majnu

Coming from a film which vanished without a trace at the box office, despite Imtiaz Ali's screenplay and a brilliant performance by Avinash Tripathi (the lead actor) the soulful soundtrack of this film was a wonderful respite. Atif Aslam who is often accused of lack of versatility brings such a fun vibe to the song, it is endearing. Although I happened to discover this song accidentally on Youtube, I liked it so much that it made me want to watch the movie.

4. Naino Ne Bandhi- Gold

I wouldn't hesitate in expressing my vehement agreement to the fact that Akshay Kumar has over-done the genre of nationalist propaganda kind of films and Gold was no exception.
But this song and especially the music, in the beginning, had my heart and it definitely makes to my top 5 list.

5. Tera yaar hoon main- Sonu k Titu Ki Sweety

Much against popular opinion, as much as I disliked this movie for its misogynist portrayal of the female protagonist, this song resonates as the new age friendship anthem. This makes to my list more because of the lyrics.

Side note to all my friends back in India!
 Jaate nahi kahin rishte puraane
Kisi naye ke aa jaane se
Jaata hoon main toh mujhe tu jaane de
Kyun pareshan hai mere jaane se

Some other special mentions
1. Dilbaro- Raazi
2. Le dooba- Aiyaary
3. Kamariya- Mitron
4. Dhadak Title Track- Dhadak
5. Namo Namo- Kedarnath
